lauren's glass is always half full

When my middle grand daughter was approximately five years old, she gave me a great reference for thinking positive. I use her slogan still, & she is now thirteen. My daughter & son in law had sold their home in the suburbs of OKC & purchased a home on five acres. I was living in the Bay area & had returned to OKC for the holidays. Their street was the last exit before the H E Bailey Turnpike. I had missed the turnoff a couple of times and thought I had learned my lesson. It was a twenty mile drive before I could turn around, drive twenty miles back to the gate, pay my dollar & be on my way. This particular visit I had spent the day with family & asked Lauren if she wanted to spend the nite with taotao (me) in the city. She did, and we gathered our belongings & headed out. I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT AS SOON AS I MADE THAT WRONG TURN! Hitting the steering wheel two or three times, cursing 'well, I'll be a SOB, I did it again, I made the wrong turn!' 'mmmmmmmmmmmm taotao, you not post to say bad wouds' 'I know, lauren, but taotao is so mad right now. we have to go all the way to Chicasha, turn around, pay a dollar, & it will take us forever to get to the hotel. She sat there for a minute, looked at me and said ' well, at least it will be a nice dwive' I didn't respond.........then in a boisterious voice, with body swaying.....'Here we go to Chicasha, here we go to Chicasha, c'mon taotao, sing wif me'.

So now when I'm not that into doing something, I just remember 'well taotao, at least it will be a nice dwive'.
